Shirly Thanayam is an Indian Artist born in Kerala, India in 1974. Her works covers an extremely broad range of presentation from paintings to craft and design . Her background in painting along with an active interest in art & design created a concept ‘ Artshirly – The Arena of Art’
Her childhood days were full of loneliness since she was a lone child of her parents. That loneliness has led her to start drawings which depicted her house, neighborhood and grew up atmosphere. After self training in drawing she chose to learn basic lessons of Art from an eminent artist Sahadevan master who is considered as her real 'Guru' still. She has been inspired by his innate style of realistic art. Always she attempted to give more realistic objects and powerful presence to all her paintings.
After obtaining the Diploma in Fine Arts she had her first Exhibition with the blend of realism and expressionism. By the time she has developed a universe of expressive human figures that would combine rural life and characters. She has had solo exhibitions across India and also participated in group exhibitions in Dubai.
She chooses oil, acrylic and watercolor mediums to fulfill her imaginations. As a painter, she tries to characterize her imaginations in more narrative styles. The emotional richness is the hallmark of her artistic vision which would always express through her paintings. |
